Fitness & Athletics Indoor Duathlon Extended ’til September 30

Fitness & Athletics Indoor Challenge

When I first did the Fitness & Athletics Indoor Duathlon, it was my birthday week in July and I was in the thick of preparing for Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines. Titanium Runner and Jeffrey Avellanosa filmed me doing the 3K run-20K bike-2K run on an Intensa treadmill and a Proform Le Tour de France bike at the Fitness & Athletics store in Bonifacio Global City. They produced a great little video that explains what the indoor duathlon is all about and why you should do it. Check it out:

I wasn’t really satisfied with the time in which I finished the indoor duathlon, so I said that I’d do it again after Cebu. I thought I ran out of time because it was meant to run only until end of August. However, it’s extended until September 30. I get a chance to redeem myself and better my time!

So what do you get when you sign up for the Indoor Duathlon? The first 200 participants got a performance shirt. All registered participants get a race bib, finisher shirt, goodies from sponsors, and Gatorade. The bib has tabs which you will use to gain entrance to the awards night, and as your raffle stub for a chance to win a Proform Le Tour de France bike. Top 3 finishers per age group will receive medals, prizes, and bragging rights!

The registration fee is P600 for your initial race. Should you choose to do a repeat, which is what I’ll do, the fee is P450 (you will receive only a new race bib).

Unilab Active Health Duathlon

Of all the running and multisport events I’ve ever done, I’ve never done a 3K run or a duathlon. Last Sunday’s Unilab Active Health Duathlon sprint category involved a 3K run-20K bike-2K run combo, giving me a chance to do both things at last.

It was a damp early morning, with clouds spitting a drizzle down on participants as we prepped our transition areas. The long distance duathlon event (6K run-60K bike-4K run) would start at 6am, an hour before ours. Due to the weather, the organizers Bike King and Unilab Active Health moved the start time to 6:20am. Good thing too, because the drizzling stopped and the sun came out.
