With boutique gyms and fitness chains opening left and right in metropolitan areas and central business districts, we’re spoiled for choice. Add another to the mix: Celebrity Fitness has now opened its doors in Metro Manila. Last week I was able to check out its first branch at the second floor of One Bonifacio High Street Mall in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Check out the media launch festivities in the vlog below:
Celebrity Fitness started out in Indonesia in 2003 and has flourished over the past 15 years with its one-of-a-kind fitness concept that aims to make every workout feel like a party. Aside from a full range of cardio and strength training equipment, Celebrity Fitness also boasts their signature group fitness classes. I got to try out Playground, a 35-minute class on the gym floor that incorporates a range of innovative functional equipment and adventurous game-based workouts, and Saltar, a 60-minute uber-fun trampoline workout which is the first workout of its kind in the Philippines.
The Celebrity Fitness branch in BGC is the first one outside of Indonesia and Malaysia, where the brand has 59 clubs already. Two more clubs are set to open in 2019 in key business districts. Parent company Evolution Wellness also administers leading fitness brands Fitness First and CHi Fitness and award-winning eco-wellness brand Fivelements, but each brand has a distinct identity and targets specific segments of the fitness market. Celebrity Fitness seems targeted at millennials and Gen Z with its emphasis on a party atmosphere as well as affordable membership packages starting at P2,595 a month for a 12-month period.
