Every so often my feminine side will reassert itself and insist I do something in heels. My sporty side compromises, so I find myself at events that are a cross between fashion and wellness, like the Nestle Nonfat Milk Flaunt It! Trunk Show two weeks ago.
Nestle Nonfat Milk Flaunt It! Trunk Show
I love the decor!
The trunk show is a collaboration between Nestle and Summit Media magazines Preview and Cosmopolitan. Nestle Nonfat Milk was launched in the last quarter of 2012 and this event was their summer re-launch. It would also be a great way to showcase the work of three designers selected by Preview, modeled by Cosmopolitan‘s six sexiest fashion muses.

So how does all this tie in for my sporty side? Well, as an athlete I constantly challenge my body to become a stronger, fitter version of itself. But the body doesn’t become stronger through non-stop training; it’s during recovery that the body is able to rebuild and fortify itself. And that’s where Nestle nonfat milk comes in. It’s got protein for muscle repair, calcium for bone strengthening, and carbohydrate for energy replenishment. But it’s got less than 1% fat so it isn’t heavy on calories. It’s a perfect recovery drink.

Only 90 calories per serving!
The time immediately after your workout is when you really to replenish carbohydrate and protein stores. Otherwise, your body starts metabolizing your muscles (practically “eating itself”), which is a cause of delayed onset muscle soreness.
I’ve been using the nonfat milk in my post-workout recovery shakes and as a result I feel a lot fresher for my next workout. I’m definitely stocking up as my training load gets heavier.
