My birthday is coming up next month, but I don’t really have a big goal for it, unlike last year when I was training for my first marathon. I still want to do a race on that weekend, though, and the Yamaha Run for Heroes on July 3 fits into my schedule.
And check this out: this race benefits HERO Foundation, Inc., which provides educational support to children whose parents in the military have been killed or disabled in the line of duty.
I’m pleased that the Yamaha Run for Heroes, part of the RunRio Series, is at the standard price of P500 for 3K, P600 for 5K and 10K, and P750 for 21K. (While it’s not cheap, there isn’t much of a price hike from last year’s RunRio prices).
Yamaha has promised that if 10,000 runners register for the Yamaha Run For Heroes, they will donate P1 million to HERO Foundation. Wow!
Registration in-store has been ongoing since May 30 until June 25, 2011 from 12nn to 8pm at RUNNR, R.O.X., Toby’s SM Mall of Asia, Planet Sports Galleria, Planet Sports Trinoma, The Athlete’s Foot Galleria, and The Athlete’s Foot Alabang Town Center. You may also register at the Yamaha Flagship Store on ADB Ave. daily from 10am to 7pm. Online registration is also available.
The run singlet, part of the kit you receive upon registration, is by New Balance. All runners get a timing chip, discount coupons from Toby’s, Planet Sports, and The Athlete’s Foot, race analysis, finisher’s certificate, free photo, and finisher’s kit (upon crossing the finish line). The 21K finishers also get a finisher’s shirt and medal.
