Free Your Ears with the Naenka Runner Pro Bone Conduction Sport Headphones

When Naenka Tech China asked if I were interested in trying out their Naenka Runner Pro Bone Conduction Sport Headphones, I was intrigued. I’ve previously reviewed a different brand of bone conduction headphones, and I always wondered about the alternatives to the name brand. Here was my chance to find out!

The Naenka Runner Pro bone conduction sport headphones retail at $119.99 on the Naenka website, which offers free express delivery within the USA (2-3 days) and free shipping worldwide. It took about nine days from when I provided my shipping info until the package arrived at my doorstep here in the Philippines, which was not bad considering they sent it out just before the Lunar New Year holidays in China.

Review

These sport headphones can actually be used while swimming because of their IP68 waterproof rating, but I didn’t test them out in the pool because up until last week I didn’t really have the time or access to get to a pool. Also, most of my swim sessions last longer than 40 minutes and I didn’t want to risk these headphones getting waterlogged. Lastly, I hate wearing earplugs while swimming, but you need to do that to get the best sound experience while swimming with the Naenka Runner Pro.

I did, however, use these nearly every time I ran in the past two weeks. They paired so easily to both my smartwatch and my smartphone. Because the left and right earphones are connected by a band and wire, I didn’t have to worry about losing connection in one ear (which happens more often than I’d like with true wireless Bluetooth earphones). And lastly, the battery longevity is amazing; I only had to charge it once.

It was a bit more work to use the MP3 mode, since the headphones need to be powered on and switched to MP3 mode before you connected them to a computer with the magnetic charger cable. This would allow the computer to mount the flash memory storage so you could drag-and-drop MP3 as well as lossless audio formats onto it. However, there’s no way to select playlists, and files seem to play in random order even when the filenames are numbered sequentially. Still, it’s a great feature to have if you just want to listen to music without keeping your phone or watch nearby.

As for sound quality, you can definitely pump up the volume for a more surround experience, or turn it down low so you can hear your surroundings. Like other bone conduction headphones, the bass isn’t anything special, but it’s a tradeoff I’ll take for keeping my ear canals open.

Instead of pushing a mini-USB or USB-C cable head into a port, the Naenka Runner Pro uses a magnetic port, ensuring better waterproofing (the only hole in the entire headphone is from the microphone). This also does away with the risk of the cable head breaking off while still plugged in, so if you mistakenly swipe the headphone while it’s still plugged in, you won’t damage it. The one disadvantage is that you might lose the charger cable and won’t be able to replace it right away since you’ll still need to order it.

If you’re in the market for bone conduction headphones, please do consider the Naenka Runner Pro bone conduction sport headphones. Don’t forget, get 15% off when you use my promo code NOELLE111 at the Naenka website.
