This is the longest I’ve gone without traveling out of Metro Manila. While I’m willing to make that sacrifice if it helps keep our healthcare system from getting overwhelmed due to rising COVID-19 case numbers, I can’t help feeling wistful about the times when travel was easy.
(I don’t think I’ll ever fly without wearing a mask anymore, though!)
Since the only trips I’m taking will be virtual ones in the near future, here’s a walk down memory lane with video I’ve never put in my previous vlogs. A bunch of them are from before my vlogging era, so I pulled them off my Snapchat Memories and put them together to create something that makes sense.
Let me know if there’s anything that catches your eye in this video that you want me to go into more detail about! There’s one thing in particular I’ve been thinking about turning into a story time…
I used to travel for work and for leisure, but the pandemic shut all that down. I’ve recently found myself reassessing what draws me ever outward from home. At the very heart of it is that I’m a person who loves learning new things, and it’s hard not to learn anything when you travel with open eyes, open mind, open ears, and open heart. The world is a big, beautiful place (despite our best efforts to plunder it, ugh).
With this vlog I wanted to share the joy I get out of traveling, even the mundane stuff like sitting in an airplane, going through an airport, or driving and walking through a new city.
This isn’t going to be the state of things forever, and I pray that when we do find our way out of this we move forward to make the world a better, more accessible place that benefits everyone’s welfare and not just the select few who can afford it.
