This was the first week of the Atleta Ako Virtual Challenge, which I wrote about earlier here. What my first post missed is that they added a new category called Atleta Fire where participants must hit a target of 1,000 kilometers or more.
I ended up signing up for Atleta Fire. (Of course I started kicking myself for it right after hitting the Submit button, because what my lazy self wanted was to take things easy over the holidays!)
Considering that my level of activity over this past year has been just for fitness and to keep myself sane, 1,000 kilometers over the span of three months is a big jump in quantity. But once I did the math for it, I realised it’s pretty doable.
That is, if I can stay consistent. Thirty kilometers on the bike, three times a week, for three months, in combination with the running, swimming, yoga, and other workouts I like to spice up my life with. That’s what it will take.
That’s how any big endurance goals are conquered: one bit at a time. So when you create these small waypoints for yourself, the challenge becomes more easily digestible.
Check out my vlog about my first week below:
Registration for the Atleta Ako Virtual Challenge is extended to December 15, and registration is now open to both womenΒ and men. So if you need that extra kick in the butt to get yourself to stay active through the holiday and start off 2021 with a bang, sign up now.
Hope to see you on that leaderboard!
