You see a lot of my “Runner” side, but not so much my “Kikay” side, and that’s fine.Β But putting make-up on kind of flips a switch. Being able to put my best face forward with some expert swipes and dabs of color is just like putting on my best clothes — it gives me an extra spring in my step. Whether its a full smoky eye or just the barest shimmer of highlighter and blush, I love looking pretty for me.
If you think about it, using make-up can be self-care. Although it isn’t as essential as bathing, or brushing your teeth or hair, it serves a function in making you feel pampered, almost like going to the spa or getting a pedicure, but every day!
But make-up is also a way of expressing oneself, with the skin as canvas and eyeshadows, liners, and lipsticks as paint. Why can’t one be a work of art daily, and transform oneself?
Also, being a sporty or low-maintenance person doesn’t mean I can’t use make-up. Often, I put make-up on just to look awake and to add life to my face, which has the unfortunate tendency to look drained of color when I’m not exercising. My lips are especially prone to looking pale and cracked, so I love swiping on some lipstick. (Whether or not I remember to reapply after eating is another matter, hahaha!
So when Avon sent me their new range of mark. Prism lipsticks, I got super excited and swatched them all for IGTV. Check out the video here:
mark. Lip Prism Lipstick by AVON features their proprietary Pearl Elixir that delivers an iridescent finish. The nine shades here feature the hottest colours for 2019, including coral (Energy Flash shade), the Pantone colour of the year. There are also Reds & Corals, Plums & Wines, Pinks & Mauves, and Nudes.

In my vlog I chose “Reflective Scandal” to try on my lips. It’s a fire engine red, perfect for days when I keep my eye make-up understated and let my lips take center stage. I also absolutely adore the formulation, which is moisturizing for my frequently dry and flaky lips.
Aside from the “Reflective Scandal” shade, I also picked out “Interstellar Love” which is more of a nude shade that looks like my normal lip color. As for the rest of the lipstick tubes, there was no sense letting these beautiful shades sit unused in my make-up drawer! I let my friends and family pick the ones that suit their personality, and they all seemed pretty happy with the range of choices.
Make-up is a way of expressing oneself and taking care of oneself. I couldn’t be happier with my new mark. Lip Prism lipsticks.
