I’ve written about and mentioned Nike+ Training Club a few times in my blog. I first encountered NTC last year during Tights Night and Leap Year Day. I really enjoyed the circuit workouts then, so I downloaded the NTC workout app and began using it as part of my cross-training regimen. I also got to attend an NTC live session late last year.
The Nike+ Training Club relaunches this 2017! Starting March 4, NTC Live classes will be held on Wednesdays 8:30pm and Saturdays 10:30am at Kerry Sports Manila in Bonifacio Global City. You know what the really cool thing about this is? It’s absolutely free!
All you need to do is book into the session using your Nike Training Club app or at Nike.com/manila.
NTC offers three areas of focus. NTC Strength aims for athletes to move more weight than their body weight alone; NTC Mobility emphasizes moving well to perform your best; and NTC Endurance is designed to keep the heart rate up to improve the ability to work at a higher intensity for longer.
Our workout session started with NTC Mobility as a warm-up led by NTC trainer Tanya Aguila. Here we did floor and across-the-floor exercises to bring our bodies into readiness for the work ahead.

After that we split off into NTC Strength and NTC Endurance groups. Because I do so much endurance work already in triathlon training, I opted to go for some strength training. I certainly got the challenge I was looking for.
Our NTC Strength session was led by NTC coach Lian Melegrito, while the NTC Endurance session was led by coach Trish Ayson.
Coach Lian set up four stations and our group was clustered even further among the stations. I think we did about five different circuits and in our clusters we cheered each other on as the sweat poured out and the muscles started aching.

These sessions can be hardcore, but because you have the coaches looking after you they introduce options to scale it down to your level of fitness. And eventually, your fitness level will improve if you do NTC regularly. Stop exercising; start training!
While I do NTC using the training app, there’s still something special about training as a group — the energy is different and you can feed off it. Don’t miss out!
