Nike React Infinity Run Shoe [REVIEW]

After a month of using this shoe every time I went for a run, I think I can say I really put the Nike React Infinity Run through its paces.

Check out my first impressions of the Nike React Infinity Run post for some technical details about the shoe and what Nike is trying to achieve with the React Infinity line, and my Singapore Aquathlon race report for how I performed wearing the shoe at that race.

Watch my vlog review below:

To sum up, I’ve used this on treadmills, hard cement, in training, and in a race. The React midsole and Flynit upper definitely gives this shoe a good comfort level. It’s meant for steady runs where you’re not really thinking about pace so much as time on feet, although you can definitely go faster in these shoes if you want to.

Carrying around more weight these days than in racing mode, I appreciated the added cushioning in the React Infinity which reduced or eliminated that feeling of being beaten up after run days. The stability features in this otherwise neutral shoe were not intrusive at all unlike what I’ve experienced when wearing stability/support models.

This is definitely just an experiment of one and I haven’t taken these shoes out for runs longer than 10 kilometers (simply because I haven’t built back up to that mileage yet). I also don’t consider myself prone to overuse running injuries since I’ve so far managed to avoid being injured over the past 10 years, so I can’t really say if this shoe is effective in keeping someone injury-free. But it’s definitely a go-to shoe for me if I just want to head out and feel comfortable while running.

If you’re thinking about going for this because you already have a couple of other React shoes in your closet, take note that I’ve seen other wearers say these ride different to previous React models, so it’s not a direct replacement for anything yet. But if you’re looking at picking up a running shoe for the first time, the React Infinity is looking like a good candidate as an all-around shoe while you build up your fitness base.
