Two weekends ago, Color Manila celebrated their 7th year of existence with a race at the Mall of Asia grounds. I have not been doing any early-morning runs lately, so I knew it was going to be hard to roll out of bed for the assembly and gunstart. I really appreciated the convenience of staying so close to the race venue (five kilometers to the Mall of Asia grounds), with a guaranteed car transfer to the start on race morning. It allowed me to sleep a little longer and arrive at the starting line less stressed because I didn’t have to worry about driving through traffic or finding parking.
The buffet breakfast was also tasty and something to look forward to after my exertion, even though I think the three kilometers I ran didn’t justify how much I ate!
There are so many races held in Manila, but not all runners live in the city. With starting times getting earlier for the longer distances and traffic getting worse even in the early morning hours, if you really want to perform at your best for an “A” race, a race-cation makes sense.
