I love getting opportunities to review things, especially when I’ve been hearing a lot about them. So when Raceyaya sent me a pair of T8 Commando Running Underwear along with my order of T8 Running Mask and an Asian Trail Masters visor (bought preloved), I gladly took it on.
T8 is an endurance apparel brand out of Hong Kong that produces gear suited to a tropical climate. It’s distributed in the Philippines by Raceyaya, and I’ve definitely seen it sported by the more elite marathoners and ultra runners I know. The Commando in particular piqued my interest, because I’ve bought running underwear from other brands before (but the brand where I got my favourite sports underwear has stopped importing it into the Philippines, to my dismay).

When talking about materials, this was the lightest and breeziest I’ve felt in a while (it literally felt like “going commando“) so it definitely lives up to its name. It’s almost like a very fine mesh, but with a lot of tensile strength. It’s also resistant to snagging and forming runs.
But its strength is also its weakness. The material itself because it’s lightweight and breathable goes quite sheer when stretched — and my thighs stretched it sheer. You might say I should have gone up a size, but according to the chart the Small (which I received) was the correct size.
If manufactured with this lightweight material, a bikini-cut T8 Commando would be great to wear under my running tights. At least inside my running tights, it wouldn’t feel like I might flash a butt cheek if I moved the wrong way.
Boxer-style underwear isn’t really my thing because of my thick thighs, so I only felt comfortable using the T8 Commando underwear when I had hiked it up to above my thighs. But maybe there is no wrong way to wear the T8 Commando underwear — you could wear it down your thighs, up your thighs, anywhere in between. And once you’ve got them where you want them, they don’t budge. It’s just the sheerness that throws me, I guess. If they didn’t go so see-through when worn, they would be really awesome as boxers or in a boy-leg cut.
I’m glad I got to try out a pair of T8 Commando though, because I finally got to satisfy my curiosity about them. I just wish I had the skinny thighs to wear them.
