The Downside and the Upside (Fitness Diary 32/52)

That was definitely not a fun time for my health last week. The cough and congestion just didn’t improve until I took a course of antibiotics. That’s always my last course of action and I delayed until the last possible moment, but on Thursday morning I woke up and felt worse than I did on Monday, so it was time. Of course it was no miracle that the medicine worked (SCIENCE!!!), but I was seriously pissed off that my body couldn’t fight off the illness on its own.

But yes, sometimes you really do need help, and you need to know when to ask for it. Given that I’m leaving on a short solo vacation trip this week, it was important for me to recover fast enough so that I wouldn’t have to cancel. I’ve been sick while traveling alone, and it’s something I never want to go through again. That feeling of not having anyone to get you medicine, of trying to get meals into your system when all you want to do is curl into a ball on your bed and die… It’s why I bring a small pharmacy with me these days with essential over-the-counter medicines. It’s always better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!

One thing brightened last week though. Feedspot Reader, which is an app and website that helps people find and follow interesting blogs, published lists of top Philippine blogs to follow based on the following criteria:

  • Google reputation and Google search ranking
  • Influence and popularity on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites
  • Quality and consistency of posts
  • Feedspot’s editorial team and expert review

Kikay Runner made it to two lists!

On the list of Top 30 Philippines Sports Blogs to Follow, Kikay Runner was the 20th. I’m in good company with Multisport PH, Takbo.PH, The Bull Runner, Running Diva, and Just Add Water.

I was actually surprised Feedspot listed me also on Top 15 Philippines Women Blogs. There are a huge variety of blogs catering to women ranging from lifestyle, makeup, travel, health, finances and parenting. I’m honored to be in there repping the sports and active lifestyle at #8 on the list.

I’m excited to start running again this week in some great locations and breathe in some fresh air to make these lungs stronger, then create even more great content for this blog.
