It was the International Day of the Girl yesterday, and this reminded me of the importance of raising young women in a nurturing, supportive environment so they can reach their full potential. One of the avenues to do so is to ensure girls grow up safe, free from violence. We have come a long way in the fight for women’s equality, but there is yet more work to be done.
Zonta Club of Pampanga, an NGO which advocates Anti-Violence Against Women and Children will hold the first Takbo Kontra AbuZo on November 19 at CDC Clark Parade Grounds, Pampanga. This fun run aims to raise funds for the advocacy, raise awareness to end violence against women, and of course promote health and wellness.
Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. It envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making positions on an equal basis with men, and no woman lives in fear of violence. To date, Zonta has 30,000 members in 66 countries working to improve the lives of women and girls.
At Takbo Contra AbuZo, runners can participate in distances of 1K (for children and seniors), 5K, 10K, and 16K. Team Pampanga Infinite Runners (PIR) are also providing pacers to lead you to your desired finish times in the 16K or 10-Miler.
