Fitness Diary (Week 36 of 52)

It’s been an up-and-down couple of past weeks with a cold going around in the household. Since there are only two more weeks until the Clark Triathlon Classic on September 15, I’ve really been trying to be careful about staying healthy and not overdoing things. While I’ve been putting in the time and checking off most of my MX Endurance training sessions, I also haven’t felt any guilt taking rest days when I feel my energy is low, or wake up with a headache. Hopefully this annoying cold blows over soon…

I’ve also been trying to get my eating habits back on track. Too much eating of my feelings means I have been over-indulging in chips, sweets, and other high-calorie snacks. (What can I say? This is a difficult time of year…) One of the easiest ways I’ve been able to slash plenty of calories off my plate is to avoid sugar as much as I can without feeling deprived. Last week, I picked up a whole range of calorie-free and low-calorie sugar replacement products derived from sugarcane and wheat extracts. I will be writing about my experience with them soon, but I’m already excited to “have my cake and eat it too,” so to speak. Do check out the Zerocal.Life Facebook page for more info.

Meanwhile I have something to look forward to at the end of the week, as yours truly will get a peek at New Clark City. I’m excited to vlog the whole thing, especially when we try out the facilities. I’ve been drooling over the track and pool for weeks seeing photos posted of the complex being finished up.

I have some travel planned for the end of the month: I’m accompanying an Endure teammate as she seeks to complete Ironman Gurye Korea, and then I have some sightseeing to do around Seoul. If you’ve got any suggestions on good run routes through Seoul, please let me know!
