TCS Clark Animo Marathon on March 10

It always makes me so happy when races continue year after year and get even bigger. The Clark Animo Run began as a fun run organized by the De La Salle Alumni Association-Pampanga Chapter back in 2009 with 600 participants, but has grown so much in the past 10 years.

This year it will be held on March 10 at Clark Global City, Pampanga as the TCS Clark Animo International Marathon. An expected 10,000 participants will race across its 42K, 21K, 10K, 5K and 2.5K categories, including 1,200 participants from Tata Consultancy Services, one of the biggest call center companies in Clark and the title sponsor of the event.

The TCS Clark Animo International Marathon courses are now internationally certified by the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). This guarantees to runners that they have run the correct distance and their recorded times are valid and will be recognized internationally for qualifying and rankings purposes.

(So, in case you post a really good time on the marathon, you can submit it for a qualifier entry into the Boston Marathon as well as for seeding in other international marathons.)

Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third placers of the 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km distances in the men’s and women’s categories. A special incentive will also be given to runners with the best costume: one runner each from the Adult (18 years old and above) and Kiddie (17 years old and below) categories will likewise receive cash prizes.

Proceeds of the run will be used to fund DLSAA-P’s environmental and community projects like tree planting, maintenance of the Angeles City Watershed, support for the La Salle Botanical Gardens in Alviera, Porac, Pampanga, as well as the Yellow Boat Foundation for the marginalized school children of coastal Pampanga.
