Kikay Runner TV, Episode 1: Evil Twins, Runner Superheroes, and a Giveaway

Sometimes it’s easier to talk rather than write. I’ve been thinking of doing video blog entries for some time, so here’s my first one. It’s about evil twins, runner superheroes, and features a giveaway at the end. You’ll need to watch the video for the mechanics!

  1. i’ve joined several fun runs before but it was only November of last year when i took running seriously. i guess, what motivated me to come up with that decision was so that i’d be able to start losing weight. true enough, i was able to shed some of those pounds but i realized that with running, i gained so much more. i felt happier, more confident and more competitive. because of that, this year, i will run not to lose weight but to feel more positive about myself. i will run not because i have to but because i really want to. 🙂

  2. This year I want to be the best that I can be as a runner and this would mean making changes in different aspects of running specifically in nutrition, training and attitude. Personally, it means not using “carbo loading” as an excuse to eat as much junk food as I can until I go into a coma the night before the race, focusing on “prehab” by doing regular yoga, stretching and patiently warming up before workouts and lastly, find more satisfaction during fun runs not because of the cool medal, finisher shirt or beating other runners but in giving my best, whether I get a new PR or not for “victory lies in the quality of effort and not in the race result” ( I honestly can’t remember where I heard the quote but props to that runner! And don’t sue me for plagiarism)

  3. Being a simple runner will surely bring out the better in me. By being simple, I should lessen buying stuffs and accessories that I don’t necessarily need when running and stick to my old-fashion running essentials and less the “borloloys”, in this way not only I can stay simple but also save for the better. 🙂

  4. As a runner, I would like to change my recovery style. Some of my distances have increased and so should my recovery intake. I want to prioritize proper hydration, mindful choices of food and adequate rest. As a hypoglycemic, I turn to the internet for helpful articles on running and recovery that focus on those who have a similar health condition. I have also added swimming as a recovery activity. I may not be the fastest runner, but I want to be consistently in good health so I can enjoy as many runs as I want.

  5. I will change for a better runner by going strong and doing strength training for me for both injury prevention and performance. So if the goal is to simply run easier with less pain or get faster in my next race, I will try adding a few strength sessions every week. Using runner-specific strength exercises will increase structural fitness — the ability of my bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscles to withstand the impact of running. Several studies have shown that while most forms of strength training can help improve overall performance, adding heavy resistance exercises can make me faster during the final sprint of a race

  6. I just want to change others for the better by being an inspiration when it comes to running. I started to run last year because i was inspired by a close friend who is now fit, more confident and happy about her lifestyle after discovering the real joy of running. Now, I make sure to run at least thrice a week and go to the gym at night. Kim, my friend became my fitspiration. Even she’s miles away, she never fail to ask how’s my run and we do share healthy recipes for our pre and post workout meals. I haven’t achieved my goal yet but I know I’ll get there. Now, it’s time for me to pay it forward. I was happy to know that my friend started running regularly after I invited her in a fun run. She’s now the one who is very eager to wake me up in the morning to run and register again for race events. It was a fulfillment to share the joy of running with friends and move the world for a healthier life 🙂

  7. I wanted to change my procrastination habit. I could have finished a lot of work at the office and at home if I had not been procrastinating. With that said, the time that I “saved” can be allotted for other stuff like more training (running three times on weekdays) and blogging days. I did manage to complete a training course entitled “Time and Task management” and I am confident that this year will be totally different and it will be for the better.
