Kikay Runner’s King of the Road Contest Winners!

Thank you all so much for joining my KOTR race kit contest and sending in your entries. As I expected and wanted, there were plenty of fun and funny photos of would-be Kings and Queens, and some thought-provoking proposals for laws that would benefit runners.

(Who knew runners could photoshop so well? ;D)

So what kind of laws did you guys think runners could benefit from? I’ve crunched all the entries, and here are the top five topics of your proposed laws (in no particular order):

  1. free running shoes/races/running clinics
  2. dedicated roads/lanes for runners and cyclists
  3. bring your own bottle to races
  4. punishment for bandits
  5. registration fees ceiling

The entry below is one of my favorites because it proposes a law that benefits all runners (and even triathletes) and considers the development of athletics in the country.

Lemuel So

Lemuel So: If I am king of the road I will enforce “Share the road with Runners and Cyclists”. I will provide a runner’s lane for roads that have busy sidewalks and provide more funds to Running Ovals/Sports Complexes around our country so that people will be more engaged into sports.

This next one is another favorite because, well… See for yourself.

Russell David

Russell David: If I am a king, I will pass a law that all race events in the Philippines should be required to give a piece of banana to every single runner (before, during or after a race event). Every runner can benefit from bananas for prevention of cramps, cancer, and high blood pressure. Also, banana is a good source of nutrients and carbohydrates.

Hey Russell, are you the Banana King? πŸ˜€

Congratulations to Lemuel and Russell! See you at Adidas King of the Road!
