Am I Ready for Condura 21K?

I thought Sunday’s 15K race at MOA had answered that question, but I’ve been feeling run down all week. Then I got food poisoning from some bad chicken curry and started having flu-like symptoms. I’m writing this entry now while lying in my bed, feverish.

Kind of insane how I first decided to do 21K at Condura. Coming from no training at all over the holidays, I don’t know what possessed me to fork over 750 pesos in exchange for 11 kilometers over what I’d been used to running. Maybe I wanted bragging rights, since Papa Piolo’s never entered a 21K race. (Actually I think that’s the most likely reason.) Or I just wanted to ramp up because of Joel’s challenge to run a marathon by the end of the year.

If all things go smoothly and I recover my strength by Friday, I’ll definitely run the full 21K distance on Sunday. But I’ll probably take an easy pace. I’ll just have to accept finishing with a time exceeding two hours, since it is my first time running this distance and I don’t want to depress my immune system further. Lots of races in the coming weeks and I don’t want to miss out on them, either.

  1. good luck and get well noelle! kaya yan. isipin mo na lang yung glorious finish mo sa assumption run. +6km lang yan. πŸ™‚ pero yeah run on your easy pace if you're not 100%. baka ano pa mangyari.

  2. Noelle I hope to see you on Sunday on the Skyway or wherever! :DGood luck to all of us. I think I didn't have the proper training from last month for Condura after getting allergic cough for 2 weeks.I'll be on a slower pace..I hope to make an acceptable time for first time 21k runners… :p

  3. Hi Maki, hope to see you there too! Just take the 21K on your own terms, don't let anyone force you to go faster or slower than what you feel is right. The cut-off time is 3 hours 30 minutes, which is more than enough time to get across the finish line even if you walk the last 10 kilometers. πŸ™‚
