On the Go with Adidas ZNE 01 Earbuds

I’ve had many different true wireless stereo earphones over the years, but when I received the Adidas ZNE 01 Earbuds from Digital Walker at the end of last year I was still pretty excited to discover what Adidas has to offer in the TWS market.

Adidas has been offering wireless Bluetooth headphones for a while now in partnership with Zound Industries; their Adidas Headphones website lists no fewer than four kinds of wireless headphones created to match the premium experience you get with Adidas footwear and apparel.

The adidas ZNE 01 earbuds are their most affordable offering, retailing for $100 on the US website or Php 5,490 at Digital Walker and Beyond the Box, their Philippine distributor. (Keep reading for links to discounted online offerings from Digital Walker!)

I enjoyed running with these earbuds, especially when I did the full adidas getup with apparel and shoes to match. There’s really something energising and motivating about “japorms”, and let me tell you for the past few weeks I’ve definitely needed the extra push to get off my couch and run.

These earbuds have been on the market for a while, and when I was checking for updated information I saw that Digital Walker was offering them at a whopping 9% markdown on their website!

But now it seems they’ve adjusted to a 4% markdown. So from Php 5,490 they are now retailing at Php 5,290 on both the Digital Walker website as well as their Shopee listing. (Metro Manila shoppers get free shipping.)

Sound quality on the adidas ZNE 01 earbuds is great when I connected them to either my smartphone or my smartwatch. The bass lines reverberated like they should. On my laptop it was a different story; I couldn’t get the volume boost I needed even with all the audio sliders set to max. It might have been an issue with my system settings then though.

For battery life, they lasted approximately as long as other TWS earbuds I’ve had. I tried to max the 5-hour battery out, but with nonstop music listening they only lasted about 3 hours before I had to charge them. I think it’s because they have an Eco-Charging mode that only lets them charge up to 80%; this is to help prolong the lifespan of the batteries and keep them out of landfills longer. The only downside is more frequent charging.

You can charge them four times from the case for approximately 20 hours of on-the-go use before you have to charge the case itself, which you can do with a wired or wireless charger. (Wireless charging is something I’ve never seen for Bluetooth wireless earbuds before.)

I thought the fit was okay, but they tended to slip out of my right ear more. Then I found out you could remove the silicone tip cover, which improved the fit. If in doubt, head to a Digital Walker or Beyond the Box store to try these on in person. I know that you can also take advantage of 0% interest installment plans, which make purchasing gadgets lighter on the monthly budget.

Overall, I loved my experience using the adidas ZNE 01 wireless earbuds, and if you’re buying them I hope you do too!
