Star Wars Run SG 2017

Singapore is one of my favorite cities to visit, and I’m a fan of Star Wars, so it didn’t take much nudging to sign up for the Star Wars Run SG. It really helped that they announced some great swag in their race kit and sold light sabers at a discounted price.

The actual race would happen on the evening of May 6 or what Star Wars fans call “Revenge of the Sixth Day”, with a festival commencing from Star Wars Day on May 4 (“May the Fourth Be With You”) at Gardens by the Bay. Continue reading “Star Wars Run SG 2017”

Holiday Fitness, Week 3: Singapore Interlude

Last week I took my parents over to Singapore for a little travel break. The last time they were in Singapore, it was 2013 and I couldn’t make it because the Laguna Phuket Triathlon was on that same weekend. So I decided to make some memories with them and revisit one of my favorite running grounds over there as well.

The thing is, traveling in Singapore requires a lot of walking and I usually rack up a gazillion steps on my Fitbit every time I visit. I was worried my parents would be wiped out by our commute. Bintan Triathlon 2016

I haven’t raced a triathlon at all this year due to my marathon focus. I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to return to the Bintan Triathlon, a race I had “slayed” two years ago by placing second in my age group.

Doing a triathlon out of the country is always bound to be an adventure, but I made it harder on myself by scheduling it the week before the Phuket Marathon. I’m the kind of person who wants to give everything I’ve got, but these two races so close together meant that if I wanted to do well in one, the other would have to suffer.
