Justice League Fun Run in Cebu and Manila November 2017

This is my favorite time of year — not only because it’s gotten cool enough to run comfortably in the mornings, but also because so many awaited films come out around the holidays. Ever since Wonder Woman wowed audiences earlier this year (later on breaking records as the highest-grossing superhero origin film), I have been waiting for Justice League with bated breath. So when November rolled around, I was like, “It’s Justice League month!”

In line with the worldwide premiere of Justice League on November 16, Global Procurement Inc. is staging the Justice League Fun Run on November 19 in Cebu (SM City Cebu) and November 25 in Manila (SM Mall of Asia). This fun run offers 3K, 5K, and 10K distance categories.Β  Continue reading “Justice League Fun Run in Cebu and Manila November 2017”

No-Pressure Fun at Color Manila Glitter Run

Last Sunday I crossed the finish line looking like a cross between a Na’vi from “Avatar” and a Smurf, cracking open a full-toothed smile for the first time over the 10 kilometers. No, this wasn’t a Halloween costume run, but the second edition of the Color Manila Glitter Run. I’d avoided smiling because at the last Color Manila Run I’d attended, I’d grinned all the way through and ended up looking like Pennywise with stained teeth. This time around I was going for the unicorn-vomit look.

I’d signed up at the last-minute thanks to the wonderful organizers who I know always put on a top-notch event. I was looking for a way to test myself in a race situation over a defined distance while also taking pressure off myself, and the Color Manila Glitter Run was perfect: an untimed fun run with a start and finish line so I wouldn’t be tempted to cut the route partway. Last Chance to Register for Color Manila Glitter Run on October 22

When it comes to fun, pressure-free runs, I always turn to Color Manila’s roster of events. Their upcoming CM Glitter Run this Sunday, October 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds is bound to be another good one featuring their latest spin on the fun run: a glitter station!

Color Manila Glitter Run on October 22

With 3K, 5K, and 10K untimed distances, runners will go through a glitter shower spree as well as a foam station on top of the usual color stations that are the signature for Color Manila runs. Post-run, don’t go home just yet because the party is just getting started with the Color Festival, an extravaganza of color powder and music.

Color Manila VP Justine Cordero says, “Just when you think you’ve seen and experienced it all, CM Glitter Run comes in and combines everything that you’ll ever love to have in a fun run. Glitter, foam, color powders, retro music, and more!”Β  Continue reading “Last Chance to Register for Color Manila Glitter Run on October 22”

On a High at McHappy Day Stripes Run

Every year I hear about the McHappy Day Fun Run organized by the Ronald McDonald House Charities Philippines, but I’ve usually gone into offseason at that point and lost interest in racing for the year. This was the first year I got the opportunity to run.

McHappy Day Stripes Run 2015

This year’s McHappy Day Stripes Run cause was children’s literacy, which is close to my heart. As a child I lived for my books and had a rich inner life and active imagination as a result, something I carry with me to this day. Every child should be so blessed to learn to read, and the fun run aims to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charity program “Read to Learn”. <3 Continue reading “On a High at McHappy Day Stripes Run”

The Laguna Phuket Triathlon 6K Fun Run

Hello again from Phuket! In two days I fly back to Manila and then drive off for this weekend’s Bataan International Triathlon, but yesterday it was nice to revisit my first international race experience at the Laguna Phuket Triathlon. (Read my race report from two years ago.)

Because I’ve only just managed to get healthy again, when I was finalizing my trip plans I decided not to sign up for the whole triathlon. Instead, I joined the 6K fun run option, which was nice because I got to partake in the whole race day experience without totally killing myself. Also, I had a score to settle with that run course because last time, I had been unable to run it the way I wanted to.

On to the race experience!
