Puma #DoYou at Beyond Yoga Alabang

Last Saturday, Puma Philippines undertook #DoYou Hour, one of its most ambitious events ever. With ten premiere gyms holding simultaneous hardcore workouts across Metro Manila, it was the “first-ever synchronized display of women empowerment and strength.”

While Puma ambassadors Gretchen Fullido, Angel Jones, and Ella Cruz were up north (Bonifacio Global City, Ortigas, and Quezon City) to attend their preferred classes, I went south to Beyond Yoga Alabang where I intended to participate in “Power Hour Power Yoga”.

It just so happened that Saturday was also when a fun run closed off major thoroughfares in Alabang, causing massive traffic jams and making me almost miss the class despite me having left home two hours before the scheduled time.

So I came into the studio just before the class started (after pre-class selfies had already been taken), frazzled and slightly upset that things hadn’t gone to plan. Then yoga teacher Michelle Almanzor said to the class, “Set your intention for your practice today.” It made me focus on what was important for the next hour: my body, my breath, and the mat in front of me.

Puma’s campaign challenges everyone to “Do You,” which is why I chose a yoga class out of a whole buffet of options from CrossFit to salsa dancing. Yoga, especially the athletic kind, is what I have an aptitude for outside of my preferred sport. It can be gentle or hardcore depending on what you put into it. Yoga is still my go-to workout when I feel things are off-balance physically, emotionally, and mentally. I have to tell you, I really needed that class, and I’m glad I made it.

For a free class, we got a lot of goodies: the Puma tank tops that we wore, an awesome new Puma water bottle, the eco-bag that I’ve taken to carting around with me to carry odd items, samples from and Vita Coco and Fit ‘n’ Right to quench our thirst! If you didn’t sign up for any of these classes, you definitely missed out.

This week, I checked out the Puma store in Greenbelt 5 and was pleasantly surprised by their running range. If you don’t want to run into anyone with the same outfit out on the road, Puma’s run apparel will definitely make you stand out. (Also, they don’t stock too many of the same style so you’ll definitely be unique…)

I hope Puma keeps motivating women to get into an active lifestyle, whether running, yoga, dance, CrossFit and gym classes, or anything else that gets the body moving and endorphins flowing. Do You.
