Kikay Reviews: Zenith Smart Scale

Today was the moment of truth: have I gained weight from the holiday season? The answer is YES. And now I know it down to the fraction of a pound, and then some.

Truth be told, back in December when Digital Frontier the official distributor of the Zenith Smart Scale offered to send me a unit to test and review, I had my reservations. Who really wants to confirm the damage done during the feasting? But everyone knows that knowing is half the battle. So I bit the bullet and told them to send it over.

Out of its box, it reminds me of my first iPod with the glass surface over a white background. Its monolithic appearance is broken up only by four metal contact points. The “Zenith” logo is unobtrusive, only revealed under certain reflective conditions.

Once you step on it, though, a hidden LED panel lights up and displays your weight. A Bluetooth indicator lets you know that it’s trying to pair with a smartphone to receive the data.

The metal contact points pass a mild electric current from one foot through your body to the other foot. The speed at which the current passes through the different tissues in your body allows the Zenith Smart Scale to determine things like water percentage, muscle and bone mass, and body mass index. This is then transmitted via Bluetooth to your phone. The partner app iWellness is available on the Google Play Store and in the App Store, and once you’ve set it up on your phone it can present all the data in an easy-to-read interface.

Eep! I don’t really want to see this information, huhu.

The iWellness app is also able to calculate your basal metabolic rate and metabolic age. All this data is stored on the app so you can easily keep track of changes and see if you need to adjust your fitness regimen to achieve your weight loss goals. It’s also easy to share this information from your phone with the Share button to other apps that you have; for instance, you can send the information to a health professional via text or email.

There’s no denying I’m going to need to ramp up my workout activity as well as get ahold of my eating habits again, but I can’t wait to see those weight numbers go down in succeeding weeks.

Small consolation here is that I’ve actually increased muscle mass and decreased fat percentage, weight increase notwithstanding. For me it’s easier to gain muscle than lose fat, so I’m on the right track.

I’ve also downloaded the iWellness app to my parents’ and sister’s smartphones so they can also keep track of their own progress through the year. The Zenith Smart Scale is going to be a great tool as we all recommit to fitness this new year.

You can find more information about the Zenith Smart Scale here on its KimStore album. You can order one for yourself on KimStore, or pick up at Technopop branches (Blue Bay Walk Cluster J, Pasay City; G7 Eton Emerald Lofts, Garnet Rd., Ortigas Center; Dela Rosa Carpark 1 Makati; 2nd Level, Eton Centris Station, Quezon City; Manila Towers Residences 2, Vito Cruz; Level 3 Pedro Gil Wing, Robinson’s Place Ermita).

May the next number this displays be lower.

    1. I’m loving it so far! Weight recorded is pretty consistent with the medical-grade weighing scale I use at the gym, but it’s more accurate down to fractions of a pound. I also like being able to see fat percentage.

      1. Hi Noelle, so it comes with an Android/IOS app, right? Kumusta naman yung app? Looking forward to your in depth review/update on this Zenith scale, and also the Atmos Fit Elite band πŸ™‚

  1. Just wondering, is your Zenith scale still working now? Any additional inputs? Kimstore is currently selling this at a discounted price of P750 (instead of P849 original) when you buy together with the Atmos Fit Elite for P890. Been contemplating if these 2 products are worth trying πŸ™‚

  2. I bought mine 2 months ago and I am very happy. Zenith made me realize how much body fat i actually had, no bs… since it’s not going to sugarcoat anything. Definitely two thumbs up. And yeah, maayos to.

  3. Hello. May problema po ako. Pag nag titimbang po ako, ang nag aappear lang sa iWellness app ay Weight at BMI lang. Zero (0) lang yung Body Fat, Visceral Fat, etc. It happened after a few weeks of using. Tapos may lumalabas sa scale na “PI”. What does that mean?
