Go Natural Run on January 15, 2012

I asked my Facebook Page followers: “Have you run your last race this year, or is there one more you’re doing? Tell me about your off-season plans. Will you have an off-season?” I revealed that I won’t really have an offseason since I’m training for Condura.

Here’s a race that’ll kick off my 2012, with a 21K distance to which I can add another 11 kilometers to make it my longest run before I start tapering.

It’s RunRio’s first race of 2012! While you may have seen information about this earlier on some other websites, it was incomplete because RunRio hadn’t released the information yet. Continue reading “Go Natural Run on January 15, 2012”

Run BGC 3K, 5K, 10K Route Maps

If you haven’t seen the route maps for this Sunday’s Run BGC, check these out! It always pays to check route maps because it’s easier to plan your race strategy that way, and there are no surprises.

Long Runs in the (BG)City

I used to live in Quezon City, but most of my run training occurred in BGC, a 45-minute drive on a good day. So I thought that when I moved to Pasig City, I’d be closer to BGC and hence could train more regularly since it would be just a short hop from my condo to those stomping grounds.

Guess what? I moved in May, but only did my first run in BGC last night. Way to go, Noelle. I’ve been contenting myself with short runs on gym treadmills and brick sessions after bike training in MOA. But since it’s crunch time for marathon training, I really needed to put in the effort to do a long run.

I used to have closed-off streets with nary a stoplight or a car in sight. Now all the roads are open and passable. McKinley Hill is also very congested with vehicle traffic these days. When I ended my run, my skin felt grainy from dust and whatever else those tailpipes had been expelling into the air.

What I liked about last night: bumping into my old running friends, encountering the odd runner also making their way to McKinley, seeing a running clinic happening at BHS, and getting a free drink of water at Riovana. Some things change. The joy of running remains the same. :)

Run United: Three’s the Charm

Finally, the 2011 Run United trilogy (also known as the RunRio Trilogy, hehe) is complete, capping off a great year of running events in Manila for the Unilab Active Health team. This was definitely their biggest event yet, with six distance categories held in one day. Like I’ve taken to saying, bonggang-bongga!

But I guess what makes this special for me is that this was my legitimate 21K comeback, after a modicum of proper training. And also, this happened:

Dreams can come true, they can happen to you…

Run BGC 2011 (w/ Flag Football!) on November 27

I’ve been running races in the Roxas Boulevard area for a few months now and I’m starting to miss Bonifacio Global City. So I’m really looking forward to Run BGC’s repeat this year (I missed last year’s race). Of course, BGC being the home of most running events, people may have grown tired of the same old race routes.

Run BGC 2011: A Level Higher

That’s why this year Run BGC offers an alternative event aside from the 3K, 5K, and 10K race categories. Introducing: 3K and 5K with flag football! BGC is also home to some flag football events held by the B-League Football Club, whose members will be facilitating the flag football portion during Run BGC.
