Thanks for reading, everyone.

Haste, I really think all races must impose a cap on the number of runners they allow to register. If buildings have maximum capacity, so do roads. Safety must rule above other concerns such as popularity or record-setting. We do not want to set a record as the country with the most number of running-related deaths.

Unfortunate. Hopefully organizers will now learn that runners need water...we are not playing chess. It is running we need to hydrate. Nice post.

Serves as a grim reminder that no matter how fit we think we are, we never really know. Nice article Noelle.

I totally agree with you Calvin. This coming Takbo.ph I will run for Remus as a tribute and will not even gun for a PR. Maybe I'll say a rosary prayer while running to make sense of my tribute. I'm also preparing sa paper flyers to stick at the back of my shirt and give some to others.

(lowercased. allcaps=SHOUTING.)

Hi Noelle,

Do you think MILO should impose a cap or limit to the number of runners joining the Manila Leg in the future? This is just to insure proper hydration, safety and security for us runners and race orgs as well.

reading this, i won't be gunning for a PR on the takbo.ph run next sunday. instead i will run alongside my wife who will run her first 10km and we will finish at the same time kahit maglakad kami most of the time. :)

meron din nangyaring almost same incident sa Standard chartered race in singapore recently where a runner collapsed and died before getting to the hospital.

That's unfortunate. Reminds me of Radito Banzon (Ateneo Track & Field captain who suffered a heart attack after a race).
