It’s exciting to see many different kinds of races available these days: trail runs, building run-ups, and now relays!
The Lactacyd Team Woman Run on June 27 at McKinley Hill is an all-woman relay race for teams of three to four women
between 18 to 35 years old. (UPDATE: the website does not state an age limit. My initial information came from their press release, which must have been erroneous.)
Comprising a total distance of 21 kilometers, the four legs are divided into 10K, 5K, 3K, and 3K distances. For individual women, there is a 5K run category. There is also a Best in Team Costume award up for grabs! Definitely something KIKAYRUNNER would do, right?
I hosted the press conference for the Team Woman Run last May 20 at the Blue Water Day Spa in Ortigas, and met the Team Woman Run ambassadors Amanda and Leica Carpo and Bea Locsin. (Their fourth member, Cheska Carpo, was out of the country at the time.)
I am woman. See me run.
They’re all career women, some of them mothers, but all find the time to train for triathlons! I mean, for me it’s hard enough to train for my upcoming marathon, but to add swimming and biking to the regimen? These women are inspirational.
Aside from the race proper on June 27, three free clinics will be held by the Team Woman ambassadors on May 23 and 30 and June 6. Register for the race and clinics at TeamWomanRun.com or at Timex SM Mall of Asia, SM Southmall, and Trinoma.
Since this relay race happens on the weekend before the Milo marathon, I’ll probably be running one of the shorter distances as part of a team, or running the individual 5K. Hope to see you there!
